New CD's

So I went out and picked up a few new CD's. So here they are:

Queensryche: OMII - I was a huge fan of QR back in the day when I had a full head of hair. Rage for Order, fantastic, of course Operation Mindcrime is a must have and Empire is great as well. I got pretty excited when I heard OMII was coming out. Took me a while to finally pick it up. I have to say I was very dissapointed. I've tried three or four times to listen to the whole thing, but haven't been able to make it through.

Lynch Mob: Wicked Sensation - Whether you like George Lynch or not he is a exceptional guitarist. I was a big Dokken fan, but had not picked up any Lynch Mob (not sure why you would think as a Dokken fan I would have gone there). Woodchuck suggested this one, Great CD. Would recommend it to any rejects from the 80's.

Tesla: Mechanical Resonance - Had this one back in the day but don't know what happened to it. These guys flat out rock. I have several of their later CD's but this one is probably the best. Modern Day Cowboy, Cumin atcha live, Rock me to the top are awesome tunes.

Wolfmother: Wolfmother - This one my cousin put me onto. Huge 70's vibe to this disk. Not real technical but fun to listen too. You can certainly here the 70's influences coming through. Although the scream that opens the disk leaves you wondering what the hell is coming next.

Van Halen....Huge Van Halen fan....In High School I had plans on being the next Eddie, but a lack of talent got in the way. Although I believe I could drink as well as him, it didn't really translate into the guitar. I have all the VH disks with the exception of III with Gary Cherone. I have been tempted a few times to pick it up, but thank god when I had the urge it wasn't available at the store I was at.

It's not about me....It's not about me.....

Weekend is coming. I have guitar playing to do but noooooooooooo................

Have to go to Pirates - Dead Man's Chest, Have to take my son fishing (he hehehehehe), I Have to go to the museum to see King Tut, Have to go out to dinner with Momma Musky, Have to go to the monthly poker game Saturday night.......damn it when am I going to have some me time fun? I guess I'll just have to play along and do all those other things and somehow make it through.

On a sad note (boo hoo) all my fishing buddies left today for the annual fishing trip up to Canada (Northwest Angle of Lake of the Woods) and I can't go because of work. 1,000,000 acres of prime musky fishing water. They will be hitting the water at around 8-9am staying out on the water until around 9-10pm, back to the cabin for dinner and drinking, then do it again for 7 days. Could be the most beautiful place in the world.....Monday through Friday at work are going to suck ass, especially when they call to let me know how much fun they are having. Oh well, maybe next year...or possibly September, I mean I really can't pass up a free trip can I? Hopefully Momma Musky will see things the same way I do.

A Musky/Metal/Soccer Weekend

Was able to take Friday and Monday off giving me a 5 day weekend. Hit the water on Friday at 5am. I have read just about every Musky fishing book out there, watched 5 or 6 Videos on the topic, Saric, Linder, Maina all the Musky biggies. Bright day fish bright colors, dark day fish dark colors, clear water natural colors (perch etc.), dark water bright obnoxious colors.....fish the point, fish the weed lines, fish the drop offs, etc. etc. Hmm what do you do if it's dark and your are fishing dark water? Certainly a dilema. Anyways after all the reading, watching and discussing various techniques and strategies I have come to the conclusion that the Muskies don't read the same books as me.

The morning was clear, and I was fishing a clear lake so I started using perch and walleye colored baits. Didn't see a damn thing for three hours fishing all the "top" spots on two of the lakes in the chain. So I decided that I was going to go against the rules. As some clouds rolled in I decided to fish a spot I hate, in dark water with an ugly lime green bait....of course I nail a 36 inch Musky, go figure.

Saturday, I took the 11 year old out fishing. I let him drive the boat. We had a great time. We caught only one small bass, but just getting out for 3 hours was fun. It was a great day for fishing. Overcast, a bit of a wind...I thought for sure we were going to get a lot of action....but again the damn fish weren't doing what they were supposed to. I let him use a 7 ft St. Croix rod, which is bigger than anything he has used before. I don't think he got even one backlash the whole time (unlike somebody else I have fished with). He cast the entire time except for a few minutes when he was enjoying his orange soda. I was proud of him, now if I can just put him where the fish are hungry.

Spent the rest of the weekend watching World Cup games and playing my Guitar. This week "Fight the Good Fight" by Triumph was the main focus. What a great tune, even my guitar teacher couldn't stop raving about the chord progressions and the solo. Rik Emmett, who wrote the song, is a fabulous musician, I am going to have to learn more of his stuff.

As for Soccer I pretty much picked all the games wrong....but I am looking forward to the final between Italy and France. If you are betting, I am picking Italy so bet France and make yourself some money. Watched most of the Italy/Germany game yesterday, but of course fell asleep just after the overtime started and missed all the goals. Probably the first time in over a year that I took a nap in the afternoon when I wasn't sick.

That's all I got.
